trigema Sustainability
Sustainability Report
Since our foundation, trigema has stood for quality and innovation.
As Germany's largest manufacturer of sports and leisurewear, we produce exclusively in Germany – and we do so out of conviction.
Sustainability is a key topic for us.
1. Regional Production
Our entire value creation process – from fabric to the finished garment – takes place in Germany. This secures jobs and keeps essential production steps within Germany.
2. Materials and Certifications
trigema uses, among other materials, certified GOTS organic cotton. Some of our products are Cradle to Cradle™ certified and meet the requirements of the respective stated certification level.
3. Energy Efficiency and Resources
Our production sites use modern technology to record and optimise water and energy consumption. Around 25% of our electricity requirements are covered by our own photovoltaic systems (930 kWp).
Our energy management system is certified according to DIN EN ISO 50001 and has been further expanded and improved since certification.
4. Employees and Training
trigema provides vocational training, continuously supports employee development and promotes cross-generational teamwork.
In 2025, an interfaith prayer room was also established at our plant to create an inclusive working environment for employees of all faiths.
5. Transparency and Dialogue
We have established a formal complaints mechanism (www.trigema.de/complaint), which is open to all employees and external persons. As of the date of this report, no complaints have been received.
Energy, Transport and Packaging
- 100% production in Germany keeps essential production steps within Germany
- Packaging made from recyclable materials
- Our own vehicle fleet with electric vehicles and hybrid solutions
- Repair service for textile products
Material Innovations
We continuously focus on innovation in the development and processing of materials. As early as 2006, a compostable T-shirt based on the Cradle to Cradle™ principle was developed together with the EPEA environmental institute. For appropriately Cradle to Cradle™ certified products, circularity and the return of materials are key considerations.
In 2022, together with Säntis, we produced a T-shirt made from yarn consisting of 100% recycled cotton (RECOT 100™). In 2023, in cooperation with our long-standing yarn supplier Otto Garne, we completely converted our sweatshirt quality to recot yarn. The recot² yarn innovation consists of 25% recycled cotton and 75% GOTS-certified virgin organic cotton. The recycled material comes, among other sources, from selvedges and spool residues generated during production.
Transparent Supply Chain – Our Sourcing Countries
Transparency throughout the supply chain is a central component of our sustainability strategy. Through the retraced platform, we openly disclose the countries from which we source materials and components.
We place particular emphasis on:
- risk assessment (gross and net risk)
- number of production facilities involved
- working conditions and environmental standards in partner countries
- Gross risk: overall risk of the country, independent of individual suppliers
- Net risk: actual risk relating to our specific partners
- Facilities: number of production sites we work with in the respective country
According to the current assessment, the lowest risks are in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where we also carry out the majority of our value creation. Countries with higher risks are carefully monitored, with all suppliers required to comply with our Code of Conduct and our policy statement.
