How the TRIGEMA monkey came to advertise
Since 1992, we have been advertising in the so-called "Best Minute" before the Tagesschau on ARD. The monkey finally came to TRIGEMA through this TV commercial. At that time, we were offered a TV commercial that was originally created for a large corporation in which a chimpanzee speaks into the microphone.
- However, this customer was no longer interested in the commercial. So we were able to acquire the rights to use the chimpanzee's recordings and add our own soundtrack. In our search for a special, eye-catching commercial, this seemed like just the right idea - the TRIGEMA monkey was born!
- The monkey wore a shirt, tie and glasses, but otherwise there was no context that could be specifically assigned to another company. As it had a mouth full of nuts, it chewed with relish, which looked like a speaking movement. All that was needed was the TRIGEMA company logo and a suitable text.
- From 1990-1992, this first version of the commercial was regularly broadcast on Saturdays before the ARD sports show. In order to appeal to other target groups, the commercial was then shown shortly before the Tagesschau from 1992. The TRIGEMA monkey and its popularity and recognition value naturally also benefited from the TV series "Unser Charly", which was very popular with young and old in the 1990s. Since 1996, the TRIGEMA monkey has personally appeared in advertising together with Wolfgang Grupp as the sole owner and managing director.
