The application process for a Textile Finishing Technician usually works as follows: You send us your complete application documents, including your cover letter, CV, certificates and, where applicable, further references such as certificates, by email or as a printed application. Once you have uploaded all your documents, we will send you a confirmation of receipt. After carefully reviewing your documents, we will invite you to an initial personal meeting if your application has sparked our interest.

During this meeting, we would like to get to know you as a person, find out whether we are a good fit and whether we share similar values and goals. Questions about the profession, the company and you as a person will also be discussed. If both sides feel the meeting went well, you will be invited to a trial day.

During the second appointment, you will get to know your area of responsibility, your working environment and your future colleagues. This gives you an impression of what it is like to be part of our company family.

If both sides can still imagine working together afterwards, you will receive an apprenticeship offer from us.

In the first year of your apprenticeship as a Textile Finishing Technician, you earn €1,310 gross per month. In the second year, the apprenticeship pay increases to €1,360 and in the third year to €1,445.

During your apprenticeship as a Textile Finishing Technician, you will work through all relevant stages within textile finishing, coating and dyeing. The dyeing department includes areas such as the color kitchen, wet and dry processing departments and fabric preparation.

Shrinking – sounds a little unusual at first, doesn't it? Sanforizing sounds a little more interesting!

Both terms refer to a finishing process for fabrics and textiles made from natural and synthetic fibers in which the fabric is mechanically compressed before cutting and shrinks in the process.

You will learn about sanforizing and many other exciting textile finishing processes during your apprenticeship.

We finish all types of fibers, both natural and synthetic – including washing, bleaching, dyeing and finishing.

If you enjoyed chemical processes at school, you will feel right at home as a Textile Finishing Technician! You independently prepare printing pastes and dye solutions based on precise recipe calculations and set up various, predominantly computer-controlled systems and machines.

Your everyday tasks also include setting process parameters and monitoring textile finishing processes in the laboratory. To support smooth production processes, you regularly maintain the systems and machines and resolve minor faults. As you can see, a responsible role awaits you!

Are you confident when dealing with potential hazards? At the beginning of your apprenticeship, alongside learning about fibers, you will learn how to handle the chemicals used in textile finishing. Safety is naturally the top priority, as incorrect handling of chemicals can be extremely dangerous. Once you are confident in handling them, the content of your apprenticeship becomes more specific and you will learn all the processes used in the dyeing department. Our experienced trainers are there to support you and supervise you while you learn how to operate the different machines. You will also regularly take samples that are subsequently tested and evaluated in the laboratory.

The apprenticeship as a Textile Finishing Technician follows a dual training system. Vocational school lessons are held in blocks at the Gewerbeschule in Balingen.

In addition to general subjects such as German, English and social studies, vocational subjects including machine and textile studies are also taught.

In chemistry, you learn how to dose chemicals for textile finishing, while mathematics includes calculating chemical recipes.

In physics, you learn about electricity to develop an understanding of how to work with machinery.

Technical classes teach you, for example, how to identify machine faults and repair minor damage.

The theoretical part of the intermediate examination covers the content of all school subjects. The practical part includes a company assignment as well as a theoretical section with vocational questions relating to the complete finishing process of a textile product. For example, the practical examination may require you to bleach and further finish a piece of fabric.

At the end of your apprenticeship, you will take your final examination. The theoretical part at vocational school covers the content taught in all school subjects.

The practical part includes a complex company assignment as well as a theoretical section with questions about professional practice.

For the practical part, you complete a full textile finishing assignment in which a piece of fabric is pretreated, placed on a tenter frame, dried and processed through the different finishing stages up to dyeing.

For the dyeing process, you prepare a recipe specifying the required dyes and check their availability. The fabric is then color-matched, fully finished and reworked if necessary.

You will then be asked questions about this complete process to assess your professional competence.

You can, of course, work directly as a Textile Finishing Technician after completing your apprenticeship. With the appropriate professional experience, further opportunities are available, for example as a textile finishing technician or an industrial master craftsman in the textile industry.

You can also obtain a trainer qualification or work as a machine operator or quality inspector. Once you have demonstrated your professional skills, you may also have opportunities to become a department manager, shift manager or assistant to the production management, up to a position as production manager.
