Which degree do you need as a textile production mechanic?
You should have at least a good secondary school diploma or the intermediate school leaving certificate (realschulabschluss).
What prerequisites should you bring?

Why should you become a production mechanic?
The profession of production mechanic opens up many possibilities for you. How does the application process work?
For the apprenticeship of Textile Production Mechanic, the application procedure is usually as follows: You send your complete application documents, consisting of cover letter, CV, certificates and any other references such as certificates, by e-mail, application folder or directly via our application form.

Once you have uploaded all your documents, you will receive a confirmation of receipt directly from us. After careful examination of the documents, you will receive an invitation for a first personal acquaintance, if you have aroused our interest.

At this meeting, we will clarify questions about your profession, your company and your person and want to find out how you as a human being tick, whether we fit well together and whether we share the same values and goals. If there is sympathy from both sides, you will be invited to a rehearsal day.

During this trial session you will get to know your field of work and your working environment with your future colleagues. You will get an impression of everyday working life in our large family of companies.

How much do you earn as a production mechanic in training?
As a production mechanic in apprenticeship you earn 1,310 € gross per month in the first year of apprenticeship In the second year of apprenticeship, the salary increases to 1,360 €. In the third year you earn 1,445 €.
During the Training


Where do you work as a textile production mechanic?
You work in the knitting shop at TRIGEMA, you will be involved in all processes right from the start of your training and you will be given fixed tasks and responsibilities. During the individual stages of your training as well as the individual work steps, you will receive active support from our experienced trainers.
What do you do as a textile production mechanic?
Your responsibilities include the operation, setup and maintenance of our knitting machines as well as their textile yarn gates for the production of our high-quality products.

This includes, but is not limited to: thread entry, thread tensioning, pull-out, adjusting piece size, replacing broken needles, repairing thread breakage and changing gears.

You get to know the machines in detail and are responsible for the monitoring, maintenance and repair of the knitting machines as well as the control of the production processes including quality assurance measures.

For the regular production of fabric bales, a set of machines (three pieces) is put into operation. For example, you are responsible for tying the yarn to the corresponding gate.
How does the apprenticeship to become a textile production mechanic work?
In the first year of apprenticeship you will get an introduction to the different yarns and knitting machines – the focus is on the production of textiles. You will also learn the basic knowledge of the different knitting machines, for example which yarn quality is processed on which machine or how the individual components of the machines are named.

In the second year, this basic knowledge is deepened. The focus continues to be on production, but also on the adjustment and repair of the machines. For example, you will learn how to insert needles correctly, how to adjust the thread inlet and the correct pull tension.

In the third year of the apprenticeship, the focus is more on mechanical processes. You can now prove your acquired knowledge and skills in practice. For example, it is checked whether you can reliably and at a certain pace change the currently processed yarn quality on a knitting machine without the help of the instructor. In addition, you will learn more complex procedures such as setting thread guides with a meter or the distance between needle channels.
Where's the vocational school? How often do you go to vocational school?
The vocational school for the school part of the training to become a production mechanic is the Philipp-Matthäus-Hahn-Schule in Balingen. Teaching takes place over all apprenticeship years in the block, which means that after two months in the company you will have one month of schooling.
Which subjects are important for a textile production mechanic?
In addition to general subjects such as German, English and community studies, vocational subjects are also taught.

In mathematics you will learn, for example, how to calculate fibre costs, fibre quantities, trade weights and mixing ratios. In physics, you learn how to read block diagrams and circuit diagrams. The field of Engineering/Plant covers, among other things, the maintenance, maintenance, repair and maintenance of production machines.
How does the final audit work at the production mechanic Textil?
At the final exam at the end of your training, the theory part of the school asks for the contents of all subjects.

In the company, the practical part takes place in the form of an assignment, for which you prepare a documentation.

With this order you get a sample of the fabric, which you have to produce in a certain quantity and in a certain quality. To do this, you first think about which machine you will use to produce the fabric.

The main part of the test is to convert the machine accordingly and prepare it for the production of the fabric. You need to take into account all the necessary factors, such as the availability of staff.

You write a documentation about the entire process and how you have worked out individual processes, which is submitted to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Based on this, you will be asked questions about the assignment itself and your professional practice in general during the oral examination at the Chamber of Commerce.
After the Training


What promotion and further education opportunities do you have at TRIGEMA after your apprenticeship?
In addition to the opportunity to work as a production mechanic right after your training, you can also pursue further training as a technician or master. Furthermore, there are many other options that are open to you with us.

So you can take the trainer's certificate, become a machine operator or a quality inspector. If you have proven yourself in the first few years, you will also have the opportunity to become a department manager, shift manager or even assistant to the production manager himself.
